  • This Whirlpools in Copper Necklace was named as such as the copper swirls imitate little whirlpools in the water that a breeze makes as it ripples around the water. I torched the raw copper wire first to bring out a rainbow patina finish then formed and hammered and textured the surfaces. I cut and filed and shaped each link, still keeping it rustic looking in the joints. The total length of the chain is approximately 19 inches and with the bottom swirl it ends up being around 25 inches long. I love this piece and hope it brings the new owner many years of joy. The basic shape is the same, made in copper wire which is hammered to help it keep its shape and to add a texture to it. Green aventurine nuggets have been wrapped around the inside, making the overall effect similar to a geode. Aventurine is the birthstone for the star-sign Taurus and has also been used as a lucky talisman and is a popular stone for gamblers. Legends say that it is an all-purpose healer, used to reduce stress, develop confidence, imagination and improve prosperity. These earrings are approximately 2 inches tall and hung from a copper earwire. I can use a hypoallergenic earwire if preferred and also switch the copper for silver or use different gemstones.
