Contemporary Graffiti Prints

A lot of things can be said of Kev Munday's work, but none more prevalent than his penchant for luscious, tightly-packed graphics that leave an indelible impression on your retina. His loose, monogram-esque aesthetic typically depicts odd-looking characters in a confined space, possibly reflecting the nature of his country's iconic capital city - London - the most densely-populated in the UK. Kev draws much of his inspiration from the natural world, often incorporating an element of outdoor life into his work, to create his own, engaging narrative.

He experiments with a variety of shapes and tones of color to create resonant, visually-stunning pieces. With a typical white backdrop, he exploits vivid contrast in his work. Never creating art for art's sake, the UK-based artist's work carries a definitive message - to 'show his work to as many eyes as possible'. Kev creates a new collection of giclee prints every year from his Basingstoke-based studio.

His ability to work with or without the assistance of computer gives him the freedom explore both traditional and more contemporary art forms. His work is awash with influences of street culture, including iconic footwear brands nike and adidas, who feature in his 'Sneakers' print. Kev isn't limited to one art form either, he divides his time between painting murals, canvases and furniture, among other things.

Despite the free-spirited attitude with which he approaches each piece, his work often conveys a conflict - a world's often at odds with itself for no apparent reason. It's almost as though the many pairs of eyes that are abundant in his work, are searching for answers to an unknown question. He subtly provokes your curiosity with a child-like sense of wonder.

His acute-improvisation skills have allowed him to hold live events where he delivers a piece in front of an eager crowd of art-lovers some of whom get involved its inception. He also counts Walt Dinsey as a client, a project in which he was commissioned to paint 'Mickey Mouse' at one of their exhibitions. Kev organises various events, including Visual Tourettes, a country-wide pop-up exhibition for emerging artists to sell their work and collaborate with one another. He's simply an awesome artist who projects a ray of raw beauty onto the world. After witnessing his work, it's hard to return to normality!
